Cindy Zink
My name is Cindy Zink and I am a self-taught artist…. sort of. I have had a lot of artists share their knowledge with me in some form or other, for which I am profoundly grateful.
I have always been creative and love to make everything from scratch including cooking, weaving, knitting, and of course painting. I am energized by the planning and researching of a project and then the actual implementation of the project itself.
I have lived in Texas with my husband and two sons for more than 20 years and love to paint the local landscape around me. I try to find the small hidden areas in nature that provide relief from the Texas heat. The hidden retreats that are cool and shadowy but still let in that little bit of dappled sunlight.
I also love to paint the wide-open spaces that are beautifully Texan, including the land and the sky. The cloud formations that are grey but also reflect the orange, red, and yellow light from the rising or setting sun are especially tricky but I learn something new every time.
Each painting is a new and challenging adventure in technique, color, and value that allows me to start again the process of research and planning that culminates in a very satisfying journey.
